Northeastern Yangko Dance: A beloved regional folk tradition. Though fewer perform it today, its admirers continue to grow.

Each year, enthusiastic visitors participate in the “wild bonfire dance” (Note: Both activities are complimentary gifts organized by the scenic area and may be canceled due to snowstorms; participation depends on actual conditions).

DAY 4:Snow Township – Jingpo Lake Winter Fishing – Erdaobaihe
Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Erdaobaihe Hot Spring Hotel
After breakfast, take a coach to Jingpo Lake (admission included).
In northeastern China’s frigid winters, the lake’s surface freezes to a thickness of approximately one meter. Resourceful ancestors chiseled holes in the ice to set fishing nets, leveraging the prolonged freezing season (lasting up to six months) for natural preservation of their catch. The thick ice also facilitated transportation, enabling easy movement of people and horses—key factors that have sustained the ”winter fishing” tradition for centuries.
Winter Fishing Culture
This unique fishing method, exclusive to northeastern China, carries a nearly thousand-year history. It flourished during the Liao and Jin dynasties, deeply rooted in the lifestyles of northern nomadic tribes. Today, it transcends mere subsistence, evolving into a cherished cultural heritage. Visitors can witness this traditional practice, engage in lively ice-based activities, and observe fishers hauling in their nets.
Note: Jingpo Lake typically freezes around December 30th. Winter fishing tours are unavailable during this period. No alternative attractions or refunds will be provided.
Later, proceed to Erdaobaihe and check in at a hot spring hotel.
Hot spring access is complimentary; no refunds will be issued for non-participation. Please bring swimwear. Guests not occupying beds do not receive complimentary hot spring access.

DAY 5: Drifting in the Demon Realm (a themed drifting experience) — Changbai Mountain Scenic Area — Changbai Mountain Waterfall — Green Abyss Pool (Lvyuantan) — Yanji
Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Comfortable hotel in Yanji
【Drifting amidst the Rime in Changbai Mountain’s Magic Realm】 (Self-paid expense: 198 RMB per person, duration approximately 60 minutes; queuing may be required during peak tourist seasons). Have you ever experienced drifting on a river that remains unfrozen despite temperatures plummeting to minus 20 degrees Celsius in the deep winter of Northeast China? Along the way, you can admire the stunning rime scenery while drifting on the water, following the river’s flow. Drifting was once a primitive way for humans to traverse water. Riding in a rubber raft downstream, amidst the vast expanse of sky and water, with crystal-clear river water that flows swiftly at times and gently at others, you may wonder how the extraordinary rime spectacle comes into being here, what kind of sparks will fly between the rime and drifting, and how breathtakingly beautiful it is when the branches on both sides of the river are adorned with rime. This is an experience unique to our region.
Head to the 【North Slope Scenic Area of Changbai Mountain】 (including a 105 RMB entrance ticket, excluding the scenic shuttle bus). Upon arrival, transfer to an eco-friendly shuttle bus and spend approximately 4.5 hours exploring the North Slope of Changbai Mountain, where you can admire the 【Primitive Forest】, the 【Betula Ermanii Forest Belt】, and the world’s rare 【Vertical Landscape Zone】; visit the world’s highest volcanic crater lake—【Heaven Lake of Changbai Mountain】 (you can opt to take the Changbai Mountain shuttle bus to Heaven Lake for an additional fee of 80 RMB per person, subject to weather conditions); witness the world’s largest volcanic lake waterfall—【Changbai Waterfall】; tour the filming location of “Flying Fox of the Snowy Mountain”—Small Heaven Lake, Medicine King Valley, and observe the Julong Hot Spring Cluster; and visit Green Abyss Pool—feel the splashing of the ice waterfall and its mysterious tranquility. Surrounded by Betula Ermanii trees, it seems as if a silver halo encircles the pool, hence its other name, “Silver Ring Lake.” The Green Abyss Pool scenic area, often referred to as a miniature Jiuzhaigou, is breathtakingly beautiful. Proceed to Erdaobaihe Town near Changbai Mountain, where the natural volcanic rocks of Changbai Mountain allow you to experience authentic volcanic hot springs. Bathing in this natural oxygen bar, you’ll feel as if you’ve entered a paradise on earth, surrounded by peace and serenity. Later, head to Yanji to check into your hotel.
